Las nominaciones para la septuagésima quinta (75) edición de los Globos de Oro fueron anunciadas en horas de la mañana del lunes, mediante una transmisión en vivo en la que participaron Alfre Woodard, Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Bell, y Sharon Stone.

Continuando la narrativa que surgió con las nominaciones a los Critics’ Choice Awards, la película The Shape of Water lideró con un total de siete, incluyendo Mejor Película y Mejor Director. La cinta del director Guillermo del Toro es seguida de cerca por Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri y The Post con seis cada una.

Aunque sorprende la ausencia de The Big Sick en categorías de Mejor Película – Comedia o Musical, Mejor Actriz de Reparto y Guión Original, más sorprende es la inclusión de la película All the Money in the World de Ridley Scott en algunas de las categorías principals, entre ellas Mejor Director para Scott. Christopher Plummer, quien reemplazó a Kevin Spacey en la película luego de las acusaciones en su contra, ocupa un espacio en la categoría de Actor de Reparto, para sorpresa de muchos. Para quienes están familiarizados con la ceremonia de la Prensa Extranjera, la controversial selección no luce tan fuera de carácter. Después de todo, se trata del mismo gremio que nominó la universalmente odiada, The Tourist, para así poder contar con la presencia de sus protagonistas, Johnny Depp y Angeline Jolie.

Aunque obtuvo una nominación en la categoría de Mejor Película – Comedia o Musical, el director Jordan Peele de la aclamada Get Out quedó fuera de la carrera de Mejor Director. La ausencia de Greta Gerwig de Lady Bird en esta importante categoría deja a los premios con poca diversidad, con la excepción del mexicano Guillermo del Toro. Christopher Nolan, Steven Spielberg, Martin McDonagh y Ridley Scott completan la categoría.

En sus 75 años de historia, solo han habido siete nominaciones al Globo e Oro para mujeres directoras: Jane Champion, Sofia Coppola, Ava Duvernay, Kathryn Bigelow (dos veces) y Barbra Streisand (dos veces).

La ceremonia se celebrará el 7 de enero del 2018 con el comediante Seth Meyers como anfitrión.
