“The Lost Daughter” se llevó el premio más grande de la noche, durante la edición número 30 de los Independent Spirit Awards, donde la cinta de Netflix se llevó el premio de Mejor Película. 

La película no solo se llevó ese premio, sino que también se llevó otros galardones, como Mejor Guion y Mejor Director, para Maggie Gyllenhaal. La actriz había sido nominada dos veces para el premio de Mejor Actriz, pero esta es la primera vez que es nominada, y que gana, en estas dos categorías. 

Entre los otros ganadores estaban Taylour Paige, por su actuación en la cinta “Zola”, Simon Rex por su rol en “Red Rocket”, y Troy Kotsur por Mejor Actor de Reparto Masculino en “CODA”. Este último hizo historia al convertirse en el primer actor sordo en ganar un Spirit Award.
