El drama verídico Stronger, protagonizado por Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler), tuvo su estreno mundial en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Toronto.
La cinta se presentó en el teatro Roy Thomson Hall de la ciudad, a donde el actor llegó acompañado de Jeff Bauman, el sobreviviente del ataque terrorista de Boston del 2013 que interpreta en la película, dirigida por David Gordon Green (Prince Avalanche).
Bauman esperaba en la meta del maratón anual cuando dos artefactos explosivos detonaron, matando a tres personas e hiriendo a más de 260. Bauman compartió su historia de haber sido un testigo clave y relató su proceso de rehabilitación en un libro titulado “Stronger”, co escrito por Bret Whitter.

El resto del elenco de la película lo componen Tatiana Maslany, Clancy Brown y Miranda Richardson entre otros.
John Pollono y Scott Silver (The Fighter) desarrollaron el guión de la película, la cual fue producida por Silver, David Hoberman y Todd Lieberman de Mandeville Films/TV, el mismo trío que trabajó en The Fighter y recibió nominaciones al Óscar.
El estreno de Stronger en las salas de cine de Estados Unidos está previsto para el 22 de septiembre de este año, colocando a Jake Gyllenhaal en la carrera por el Oscar.
