El Festival Internacional de Cine de Toronto hizo hoy el primer anuncio de películas que se estarán presentando en la edición #46 del festival del 9 al 18 de septiembre de este año.
La adaptación cinematográfica del musical ganador del premio Tony “Dear Evan Hansen” es la presentación que abrirá el festival el jueves 9 de septiembre. Del director Stephen Chbosky, la cinta cuenta la historia de un estudiante de último año de secundaria con un trastorno de ansiedad debilitante cuya carta privada a sí mismo como parte de un ejercicio de terapia aterriza en manos de un compañero de clase, con trágicas consecuencias. El incidente impulsa a Evan a un viaje de autodescubrimiento que lo lleva hacia la pertenencia y la aceptación, no solo entre las personas que lo aman, sino también por el propio Evan. Protagonizada por el ganador del Tony Ben Platt como Evan, junto con Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Kaitlyn Dever, Amandla Stenberg y Nik Dodani, Dear Evan Hansen presenta canciones de la sensación original de Broadway.
Cerrando el festival se encuentra “One Second”, del aclamado director chino de “Raise the Red Lantern” y “Hero”. La película cuenta la historia de un proyeccionista de cine ambulante y un prisionero fugitivo conectados a través del cine.
Otras películas que tendrán su estreno mundial en el festival este año son “Clifford the Big Red Dog“, “Last Night in Soho” y “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”.
