SNOWDEN, la nueva película del aclamado director, Oliver Stone, tuvo su estreno mundial durante el Festival Internacional de Cine de Toronto el pasado, viernes, 9 de septiembre. Desfilaron en la alfombra roja del Roy Thompson Hall el director y los protagonistas Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo y Zachary Quinto entre otros.
La película cuenta la historia verídica de cómo el empleado de la CIA, Edward Snowden, filtró documentos clasificados a la prensa de cómo la NSA vigila ilegalmente a la población y se convirtió en uno de los hombres más buscando en el mundo. La película está basada en las novelas “The Snowden Files” de Luke Harding y “Time of the Octopus” de Anatoly Kucherena.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt interpreta al llamado “whistleblower”, mientras que el resto del impresionante elenco lo completan Shailene Woodley, Scott Eastwood, Melissa Leo, Nicholas Cage, Zachary Quinto, Timothy Olyphant y Tom Wilkinson.
El estreno del drama verídico en las salas de cine de Estados Unidos está previsto para el 16 de septiembre de este año.
